I know that we have a type of email onhere but you can only wright to people that are on here. is there a way that the sight could add on email. For an exsample mine would be Nickygolucky@zonebbs.com and it would be like hotmail, gmail, yahoo, so on so on. But it would still be a sight for the blind, but with email to use for the blind to use like anyone would use hot mail, yahoo, gmail and others. For a blind person to get an email, most the time they have to have outside help to creat it because of the code thing. But this sight doesn't do that, it does check boxes thing. Witch would make it easy for other blind people to get email and maybe help this sight grow. What do you all think? I know that most will say " I have email allready and plus this and that and more other stuff." But what do you guys think,
i guess it would be good, as we have the zone users mailing list, it could tie in with that.
you can email users who are offline, if they have chosen the option for other users to message them. just got to the profile, and click at the bottom... send an email to whoever....
I already have email, but I dont see why this would be a bad idea! i mean, like anyone who has an account on here can automatically get an email address, I think that'd be cool, dont think they'd do it, but who knows!
Actually, on second thought, if they didn't want to give the accounts for free, maybe something premium members could get. I dont know just some thoughts.
I don't think this is exactly a bad idea, but also don't see it as necessary. I use both hotmail and gmail, and haven't had any problems. But if others want to see this implemented, cool.
i really don't think this will happen. not only have we got private messaging, and the point i made in post 2, but to be honest, how many would use it
I think I agree with last post, but hey it was a shot to see what some of you all thought about it.
i didon't say it wouldn't happen, i just don't think the staff will go for it. even if they did, i am sure it's not top of there list
Also keep in mind after that, people would go for how many files can be attached? and how many MG of space for premium vs. standard members...
After that it would be can users check there other pop3 e-mail addresses on the server? and what of signitures? and after that it'd be TXT messages or HTML?
And after that it'd be can i save messages for off-line viewing?
and after that it'd be, can i call 800zoneBBS411?
LOL

yeah good point john, you don't see social networks like facebook, myspace etc have there own email system. it's a messenger intigrated in to it.
why should we be diffrent?. use the space for something we're gonna use
i was just pickin on everyone, no hard feelings.

i think this would be a premium-only feature. but i could see a basic email interface being put in to the private mail feature. if it had pop3 and smtp servers, then i'd go for it. and to avoid problems with entering email addresses with some usernames, perhaps it could be ur ID that is used instead? for example, my address would be 8332@zonebbs.com. perhaps it could be something like 30MB storage and 15 or 20MB message size for sent/received mail (including attachments). and also have the ability to buy more storage and higher message limits.
these are my thoughts on this anyway.
Ok, I'm going to respons to everything on here at once. Firstly, I like the idea. To everyone who thinks it should be premium only, how about a forwarding address. For instance someone could send a message to pianogirl@zonebbs.com and it would go to my currently registered email address. Also, to pocket pc, think about it. Who wants to memorize someone's ID number just to send mail to them. Why not just turn spaces into underlines, dots, dashes, or something else. It's not that hard to make filters to get rid of all the characters that wouldn't work in an email.
from what i've read on the back pages of this board, there was a forwarding address feature for premiums. i've tried it and it no longer works. so perhaps they should bring back the forwarding address.
